The historical and cultural attractions

The Castle:
Nominated for the first time in 1102 as the seat of feudal nobles after 1359 becames the residence of the Venecian's captains and mayors. On the south side of the building are still visible traces of past reconstructions, while the appearance today dates from the nineteenth century. Today, with the concert hall of international centre of youth music rappresentail meeting point of musical life Groznjan.

The church of St. Vito and Modesto:
Builded in 1310, rebuilt between 1748 and 1770. The choir stalls are of 1711. The painting above the altar of St. Biagio, is a work by the painter Francesco Travi of 1716. The city bell was built between 1603 and 1682. The bells are the sixteenth century.

The fondaco with the lodge:
The lodge is nominated for the first time in the sixteenth century. The building today dates back to 1597, served as court and prison while in the upper floors was guarded wheat in warehouses equipped with weights and measures of the city. Today there is hosted official town's gallery Fonticus with a very intense programme of individual and collective exhibitions.

The tower town:
It dates back to the fifteenth century and is enriched by the rectors of badges walled by Venetian's from XV to the sixteenth century. To the right is the house that in 1360 served as "Hosteria" the soldiers in the village.

The Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian:
It was built and consacrated to protectors of plague in 1554. The affraschi Professor Ivan Lovrencic are from 1988.

The palace Spinotti-Morteani:
It is a baroque building of 1681. The owners were landowners and notaries. In the courtyard was the cistern with the well of 1782.

The Registry:
Ancient seat of municipal notaries, the building dates back to 1492. On the top are visible traces of baroque decorations. Further on, in the same way once called "Contrada grande" is the current headquarters of the council, a building from the eighteenth century.

The old blacksmith's house:
It dates back to 1406. Ownership of the town, this building was rented by blacksmiths. In the village there were two other houses with similar signs craft.

Corner House::
It is a house renaissance of 1567 built on the foundations oldest. Probably it was the seat of a religious confraternity and citizen hospice. On the second floor is a Gothic custody. The building was damaged in a fire in 1984.

The cemetery with the church of St. Nicola:
It was built in the nineteenth century. over the remains of a Roman villa. On the tomb of Laurencich can admire the sculpture "Fides" by Ivan Rendic of 1905. The ossuary partisan is the work of sculptor Peter Crne. Entering you can see the sgraffito of the painter Ivan Seljak-Copic (1989). Outside the cemetery is the chapel of St. Spirit of the sixteenth century. rebuilt in 1799.
